WITH THE WEEK winding down, the day began with the first of two showcase performances of this year’s superior-rated Thespians participating in the National Individual Events program. Meanwhile, Thespians from Arizona, Montana, Arkansas, Northern Mariana Islands, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Casper, Wyo. — home of the very first Thespian troupe — represented their states in Chapter Select and Freestyle Theatre performances.

On the main stage, Nebraska got a taste of Broadway with a performance by South Eugene (Ore.) High School of the ultra-current Be More Chill and took a trip to the fairy kingdom with North Penn High School from Lansdale, Pa., in their steampunk-infused production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Plus, Thespians got their first look at Next Generation Works with a staged reading of Susie Sits Shiva, a commissioned drama by professional playwright Arlene Hutton.
