THE 2019 International Thespian Festival is officially underway! Nearly 4,500 students and teachers arrived at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for ITS’ annual celebration of high school theatre, with registrants from 41 states plus the Northern Mariana Islands, China, and United Arab Emirates.

Following the registration flurry, the day’s activities took off, with college audition sign-ups and Next Generation Works performer screenings. Main stage programming included St. Charles (Mo.) High School’s production of the fantasy role-playing adventure She Kills Monsters and the opening show, which featured favorite musical numbers from the past performed by Thespians from across the country, in addition to a closing number written especially for the International Thespian Society by composer and Thespian alum Andrew Lippa of The Addams Family and Big Fish fame.
