Choosing the right audition material is not as hard as some people think. If you are going through the college audition process as a senior, you can use the same audition material you used for your prescreens. You can also add to it so you have more for your auditions. If you are just beginning to prepare, here are three tips to help you choose.

3 Tips to Select Stellar Audition Material

  1. Age-appropriate material will serve you best. We want to see you play characters that are about your age. That is, show us the roles you can play right now. Be sure to read the play, too!
  2. Songs or monologues that you love to perform will help you shine. This really is so important. If you do not love to perform the song or monologue, it is going to show. Find pieces that speak to you. Don’t worry if you think the piece is “overdone” or “on Broadway.” If you perform the piece really well then do it.
  3. If you’re a singer, you will need to have an accompaniment track. Use a piano-only track as well as the sheet music.  ♦
