Where to Audition

Deciding where to audition for college does take some concentrated effort and planning. However, it does not have to be stressful if you take it one step at a time. Remember that you will begin planning where you will audition once you hear back from your prescreens.

You can audition for college theatre programs in person, on campus, or many schools are doing virtual auditions. The schools give equal priority to all methods of auditioning so depending on your circumstances, choose what works the best.

You can audition for multiple schools in one weekend by attending the National Unified Auditions in New York City, Chicago, or Anaheim, California. In 2022, there are 27 schools who will be represented at the unified auditions!

Your state thespian chapter should also have auditions for seniors (sometimes for colleges and scholarships). You can attend the International Thespian Festival where rising juniors can audition for many schools (as a first-glance type audition) and seniors have the opportunity to audition for scholarships. (The 2022 Festival is planned to be in person at Indiana University, Bloomington!)
